No Clue!!!

Jon is really tired... He has been trying to ask his mum to attend church so that people could pray over on her "problematic" left knees which was swollen since a couple months back. You see, Jon's mum has seen all sorts of doctors over the last few months. From poly clinics, chinese sinseh, specialist on bones to Changi Hospital, she has seen them all. She has also went through X-rays and rehab at CH but nothing seemed to work at the moment. Today, upon hearing from her friend about another bone specialist, she spent another $500++ on X-ray and medication again.

Jon was a little disappointed really. Mum have been listening to all the folks and seen all those specialists, but she just refused to listen to her son's plea of attending the church to see if God can "administer" to her...

To make matter worse, Jon's brother heard about Jon's plea and lamented Jon for been superstitious and teased that he was behaving like one of our uncles who always attended chinese mediums whenever things were not right. Jon was really furious this time. Jon's brother even brought up two occasions when Christians tried to ask one of our uncles and aunties to accept Christ at their "death bed" which both end up dying after doing so. He laughed about the "supremacy" of our God!

Jon responded that it should not be interpreted this way. To make matter worse, Jon's Brother felt strange that Jon was getting $800 from the progressive package by the government ($200 more than his brother) and he laughed about why Jon was earning far lesser than him. He criticised that our God was useless as He could not bless us with more business. Jon rebuked him by claiming that things will be different 5 years from now, if he is still alive to see it from himself! He shot back that he would say the same thing after 5 years. Jon held back his nerves and remained quiet... Jon was really fuming inside.

Frankly Jon was really giving up on his family for salvation. They were a bunch of stubborn creatures. And yes, Jon was impatient towards them too. God, you save them yourself ok? Jon really got no idea what to do as he could only be a bad representative for You because of his "impatientness" and "pridefullness". Jon is just incapable of reaching out to his family. Up to you Lord, since you claim to do the impossible... As for now, Jon is better off "shut up" than arguing with stubborn people, which would eventually tarnish the image of Christian... In short, Jon got no clue at all.

Dear Jon, Don't be upset or angry when things couldn't get in our ways. I'm sure that what you're doing today will not labor in vain. It's a matter of God's timing. Remember, we're also not perfect moreover our parent needs to see life transformation in us before they're convinced that Jesus living in us. You're not alone everyone of us has our own family issues that is why we need the grace of God to help us to overcome the obstacles. Don't give up on them...God did not give up on you. Jesus did not died for us for nothing, He paid a high price to redeem us. So, do not lose heart...the victory is belong to God! Amen.

Hi Jon,

Came across your blog entry today. Hmm I got only $400 so you are twice as blessed as me! :) Actually just wanna let you know that God moves in the hearts of people in His time. Slowly but surely, He will move. Recall that I came to know God when I was studying in JC. During that time my parents really “persecuted” me a lot. They would ground me, not letting me go to church or care group, threatening to throw me out of the house if I did so. On one occasion, when I came home from caregroup, my dad even searched my bag and threw my bible on the floor when he found it. He would screen all my phone calls and interrogate the callers. If they were from the church (there were some names he blacklisted), he would scold them harshly and refused to let them speak to me. So the only time my friends could call me was between 10 and 1030 pm every night cos that’s when he’ll be watching the news with full concentration and wouldn’t guard the phone. So I’ll usually stand by the phone in case anyone rings. (That was before the days of mobile phone, or even if they were around I couldn’t afford one then.) Over the years, I’ve seen how God has softened the heart of my parents. They let my church friends come to my house to visit for Chinese new year (my mom even cooked a lot of food for them), and allow me to hold caregroups in my place. Last Christmas, my mother even asked me to bring her to church! Even though she hasn’t received Christ yet, I am praying for God to continue to move. Elaine also has many testimonies of how God moved in her family (I know cos she was in JC group too and she’s my ex-shepherd). So please do be patient in the meantime and don't lose your cool. Never cease to pray for them :)
